It is important that the rope halter is correctly knotted. The correct knot ensures that the halter cannot slip during use.
On the video below Stephany and Jabato demonstrates how to tie your rope halter and Cross Rope Bridle correctly.
What is the difference between a rope halter with fiador or overhand knot?
At our web store you can choose from 4 models: The Classic, Fiador, Classic Luxe and Fiador Luxe.
The rope halters can be made with an overhand knot or with a fiador knot at the bottom of the loop. What is the difference?
Except that it is a matter of personal choice, the fiador is smaller and symmetrical, we personally notice no difference in use.
The overhand knot is easier to adjust and does not loosen quickly.
The fiador knot can sometimes get loser while using the halter of in the washing machine. To prevent this, we sew the fiador knot tight. Therefore a rope halter with fiador knot is no longer adjustable in size around the nose.
How do I measure the right size for my halter?
When ordering a Cross Rope Bridle we ask you to measure the size of the nose of your horse / pony. This is because the Cross Rope Bridle has to fit well to be used as a riding halter.
To order the correct size of a rope halter, you can also provide us with the size of your horses nose.
When measuring, make sure that you are measuring in the right place to prevent incorrect measurements. The correct place to measure is 2 cm (2 fingers) below the cheekbone.
I have doubts about the size that my horse / pony needs, what can I do?
If you have any doubts about what size rope halter your horse needs, we know which size to make if you send us the size of the noseband.
You measure this 2 cm below the cheekbone.
You can also let us know what size your current halter / bridle is.
Feel free to contact us if you have any doubts, even if you need a size in between, for example, cob and full. We can tailor your rope halter on request.
If the rope halter does not fit, we always try to find a solution!
How do I know if my rope halter or Cross Rope Bridle fits well?
A rope halter fits well when the nose part is about 2 cm below the cheekbone. The jaw part ensures that the rope halter remains stable and you place it as far back as possible on the jaw.
The Cross Rope Bridle should also be 2 cm below the cheekbone. In contrast to the rope halter, the Cross Rope Bridle should fit more around the head.
If the Cross Rope Bridle is too loose around the head, the operation is a lot less good.
The loops of a Cross Rope Bridle should be knotted as small as possible. The longer the loops, the less well the aids will come through.
Which rein should go on which loop of my Cross Rope Bridle?
A Cross Rope Bridle has 2 separate loops that are held together with a ring.
The left rein goes to the loop with the rope along the nose on the left and the rope that runs up the jaw on the right.
Right reins is therefore the other way around. The nose piece is on the right and the jaw piece runs to the left.
Make sure that the Cross Rope Bridle fits properly around the horse's head.
So the side where you tie the Cross Rope Bridle is on the left side of the horse's head.

Neckropes
How do I measure the right size for a neckrope?
To be able to order the right size neckrope, you can measure the neck of your horse / pony. A neckrope should not be too tight, if this is the case then you can no longer properly use the neckrope while riding.
Therefore, carefully follow the instructions below.
Method 1:
Measure from the highest point of the withers to the front of the chest. In addition, you ensure that the piece of rope with which you can measure the size is on the shoulders and not before it.
Method 2:
Take a longer piece of string / rope and tie it around your horse's neck. Try to find the most ideal size by holding it like you would hold a neckrope. Then measure this size.
Long reins
In which length should I order my long reins?
We use the following standard sizes for long reins:
XSmall 3.5 meters
Small 4 meters to a height of ± 110 cm
Small / Medium 4.5 meters
Medium 5 meters to a height of ± 150 cm
Medium / Large 5.5 meters
Large 6 meters from a height of ± 151 cm and higher
XLarge 7 meters
XXLarge 8 meters
To measure the size you can use the following 2 methods:
Take the size of the blanket of your horse and add 75 cm to this. You multiply this by 2.
Like this:
undersize blanket in cm x 2 = length of reins.
               75 cm
The result is the ideal length for your horse / pony.
What if you don't know the blanket size?
Then you can measure your horse / pony. Measure from corner of mouth to the end of the hindquarters and add 75 cm to this. Then multiply by 2.
length of mouth corner to hindquarters in cm x 2 = length of reins
                       75 cm
