Collection: Leadropes

The lead rope, called leidtouw in Dutch, is an essential training tool for anyone who practices ground work and natural horsemanship.

Unlike a short halter rope, lead ropes offer the ideal length and the right weight to convey your subtle aids clearly and directly.

Discover the largest assortment of training lines, so you will always find a line that suits you and your training.

What makes a lead rope different?

Unlike a short lead rope, our lead ropes are available in standard lengths of 3.65m, 4.5m, and 6.5m.

These long lengths are indispensable for groundwork exercises, such as lunging, sending your horse backwards or sideways, or maintaining your personal space.

A good groundwork rope not only ensures safety but also makes the difference in the finesse of your training.

The right weight and the right height

A common frustration is a lead rope that is too light, which reacts too slowly to a driving aid or takes too long to go still upon release, making the aids unclear to your horse.
Your horse misses the correct timing of your aid, such as the reward of pressure being removed.

Our lead ropes have the optimal weight and the right thickness to suit the level of your groundwork and your horse's training.

Choose the length based on your training goal:

Just starting with groundwork? Choose a 12 ft - 3.65 m lead rope. Longer lengths make working with the line unnecessarily difficult.

You move on to a longer 22 ft - 6.7 m lead rope when your communication is ready to be taken to the next level; you can now work at a greater distance from your horse.

When should you use a thinner diameter? You do this when you no longer need the weight of the lead rope to clarify your aids. Your communication has become so refined and sensitive that you can switch to a thinner and therefore lighter lead rope.
